Western Headstalls

headstall is a piece of horse tack which is used for control. The horse headstall, or often refered in combination as a bridle, fits over the head of the horse. In western riding, the headstall usually does not have a noseband. Many western headstalls also lack browbands. They are sometimes replaced by a one ear or double ear variations. This design has a strap that goes around one or both ears to provide extra security to keep the headstall on. Some show style headstalls also do not have a throat latch which is most common in halters and english bridles.
